Kompany?
Man City agree deal for Kompany
Manchester City have agreed a fee to sign Belgium international defender Vincent Kompany from Hamburg, according to the German club.
The 22-year-old defender who has played 23 time for his country and began his career at Belgian club Anderlecht.
Kompany is regarded as one of the brightest central defenders in Belgian football and if confirmed would be manager Mark Hughes's third signing.
So far Hughes has signed striker Jo and defender Tal Ben Haim.
Jo arrived from CSKA Moscow at a cost of £18m, while Ben Haim came from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.
Hughes has struggled in recent weeks to add to his squad due to the off the field uncertainty at the club.
Owner Thaksin Shinawatra is facing corruption charges in his native Thailand but has refused to return home and stand trial.
Manchester City refused to comment on Kompany's arrival.
More to follow.

Re: Kompany?
All I know is that he is a FM08 legend lol if he's half as good as he is in the game then we've got ourself a very good long term replacement for Dunnie
Something kinda ooooh
Re: Kompany?
Apparently a very good player, but once i don't know too much about... Can he play LB? If not, why are we signing him?!?
Re: Kompany?
As far as I know he's a strong central defender who can also play in a defensive midfield role. He's good with the ball at his feet, pretty quick and quite strong.
Wouldnt make an ideal left back from what I've seen/heard though.
It's a weird one this, we've signed a potential monster here which I'm chuffed about but not sure where he'll play or why we've signed him.
Having said that, we all rate our defence yet stats and the facts will tell us that whilst we may rate our defence it could well do with some tightening.

Have thought the same for a while tbh. I think the great start in Pearce's last season is partly to blame, plus the odd great (but isolated) performance like the one against the scum at COMS last year.
We capitulated badly on occasion last season.

More than once tbh mac
6 and 8 conceded is usualy a one off but
Dunne sent off against boro will not of helped but even so.
Against chelski we gave as good as we got and got stuffed we had 14 shots and they had 20 or so, we just got disected and their keeper made a couple of smart saves at the right time lol

we attacked to much in the chelski game.
we also look 10xs better at the back with dunnie, when he is not there we look disorganised.

Re: Kompany?
I'd guess Micah is moving to Right Back becasue of England. We've then got Ben Haim/Dunne/Kompany/Corluka for Centre Back and Garrido/Ball/One of the centre backs to play LB.
Unless of course we play wing backs and three centre backs?
Micah/Kompany/Dunne
Corluka/Petrov (i've noticed he's tracking back and "getting stuck in" a lot more this season)
Either way:
Corluka Dunne Micah BenHaim/Garrido/Ball
Micah Corluka Kompany A.N. Other
etc etc
We'll have one of the strongest back line squads around, build from the back!
